Know the Score: Search for a company's ISS Governance QuickScore, indicating potential governance risk

Institutional Shareholder Services is pleased to introduce ISS Governance QuickScore, a quantitatively-driven data solution designed to identify governance risk within portfolio companies. ISS Governance QuickScore, which will be made available to institutional investors and companies in late February 2013, is the first in a series of ISS QuickScore™ products intended to identify risk within portfolio companies.

ISS Governance QuickScore

ISS Governance QuickScore helps institutional investors identify and monitor potential governance risk in their portfolios and helps companies identify possible investor concerns based on signals of governance risk.

As governance plays a heightened role in investment decision-making, investors are increasingly using data and analytics to support their analysis. The need for quantitative tools to complement qualitative research is emerging as an important trend.

Investors may use ISS Governance QuickScore for:

► Understanding governance issues potentially affecting company performance

► Targeting portfolio companies with poor governance practices

► Portfolio management and engagement with company executives and directors

► Investment analysis

► Portfolio modeling

► Compliance with the UK Stewardship Code and UN PRI mandates

Beyond accessing companies’ QuickScores, investors will be able to use ISS’ screening tool to perform custom searches for companies or portfolios of companies that meet certain criteria based on ISS Governance QuickScore factors. Investors can also upload portfolios to track, compare and analyze their governance practices through the lens ofISS Governance QuickScore.

Initially, ISS Governance QuickScore coverage will encompass 4,100 companies in 25 markets and will provide an overall company score, along with drill-down pillar scores for:
