Thomas von Oehsen serves as Head of Research for Germany, Austria, and Switzerland at Institutional Shareholder Services. He is also a member of the ISS Global Policy Board, which is responsible for the formulation of ISS’ benchmark proxy voting guidelines. In addition, Thomas is a regular speaker and panelist on corporate governance topics in the German-speaking region and beyond and is a frequent commentator for news outlets such as Handelsblatt and CNN Money.
After joining the company in 2006, Thomas initially worked at ISS’ headquarters in Rockville, Md., and is now based in Berlin. Prior to his time with ISS, Thomas worked with the financial services unit of the former DaimlerChrysler AG in Melbourne and Berlin.
Thomas is a fully qualified lawyer with a degree from the Free University of Berlin and holds a Master of Business Administration with a specialization in German corporate governance.
