John Vizikas

Head of Canada Research

John Vizikas is the Head of Canada Research at ISS. John is responsible for managing the development and application of ISS’ Benchmark voting policy as well as overseeing voting research and recommendations for approximately 2,400 shareholder meetings each year at Canadian publicly listed companies. He is also responsible for overseeing ISS’ Latin America research unit, whose seven-person team covers approximately 500 publicly traded companies located across the region’s key capital markets, including Brazil, Mexico, and Chile.

John often represents ISS as an expert speaker at industry conferences and previously headed ISS’ Canadian Special Situations Research team that specializes in contested M&A situations and widely publicized control contests.
Prior to joining ISS in 2014, John spent eight years as a senior research analyst at GMI Ratings, a corporate governance and ESG ratings and research provider, where he led a group of international research analysts, while also contributing to special projects, including the CFA Institute’s widely referenced “Shareowner Rights across the Markets” manual for investors.

John holds a BA in economics from Hunter College as well as an MBA in financial management and an MS in investment management, both from Pace University.
