Investor Considerations for Banking Sector Governance

Investor Considerations for Banking Sector Governance

On April 12, ISS Analytics hosted a webinar to review the annual meeting season for Wall Street and other large U.S. banks. Attendees heard from independent banking analyst Mike Mayo, formerly Head of U.S. Bank Research at CLSA Americas and recipient of the sole global award for standards of conduct by the CFA in 2013. Mike discussed the evolution of banking sector governance since the financial crisis and what remains to be done as investors in Wall Street firms face a new set of challenges ranging from executive pay to parsing the proxy to communicating their views to management and the board. Mayo, a recipient over multiple years of the prestigious Wall Street Journal and Financial Times stock picking award, also detailed the role of data and ratings such as ISS QualityScore when evaluating banking sector governance and what investors should be asking of banks during the 2017 annual meeting season.

The session was moderated by John Roe, Head of ISS Analytics, the data and analytics arm of Institutional Shareholder Services.
