Please join Securities Class Action Services, LLC (SCAS) and NERA Economic Consulting (NERA) for a discussion on the case and settlement activity in 2017 and what to expect in 2018.  The event will be led by both Jeff Lubitz, ISS Executive Director, Head of SCAS, and Stefan Boettrich, Senior Consultant in NERA’s Securities and Finance Practice.

Mr. Lubitz is Head of Securities Class Action Services and works closely with SCAS’ experienced team of research, operations, and technology professionals to closely monitor class and group actions as well as antitrust cases, across global capital markets.  Mr. Lubitz returned to ISS in April 2017, having originally joined the company in January 2002 as one of the firm’s sales managers with responsibility for the newly acquired SCAS business. During his initial stint with ISS, he was a member of the management team that developed the SCAS online database and claims filing service. He also led the East Coast, Emerging Markets, and SRI sales teams. After leaving ISS in September 2007, Mr. Lubitz joined M|C Communications (a Bain Capital company) in Boston as Senior Vice President of Sales, where he successfully led, managed, and mentored the firm’s Pri-Med, AIA, and ICJR sales teams. Before returning to ISS, he served as Executive Vice President at GMI Ratings and Chief Revenue Officer at Compliance Science, Inc.  Mr. Lubitz received his Bachelor of Arts degree from The American University and an M.B.A. from the A.B. Freeman School of Business at Tulane University.

Mr. Boettrich specializes in securities class action cases alleging fraud and price manipulation. He has consulted on cases involving alleged violations of Rule 10b-5, valuation of restricted securities, and damages to private equity. His work frequently involves complex and large data sets, some of which require distributed computing technologies. He has developed algorithms to recognize patterns in data, classify unstructured data, and value complex derivatives. His research has recently been cited by several U.S. District Courts and the U.S. Supreme Court. Other citations include a 2017 U.S. Treasury Department report, a Federal Judicial Center publication, and as part of testimony to the U.S. House of Representatives. Mr. Boettrich holds a MSc degree from the Stockholm School of Economics and a BA degree in economics from the University of Rochester. He has completed all PhD Core courses in the Doctoral program in finance at the University of Rochester.
