Investors Reconsider Firearms: Is it different this time?
Following the shooting at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, on 14 February 2018, gun-related violence was once again cast to the forefront of the public policy debate in the United States (US). Civil society organizations and grassroots activists are exercising considerable influence to pressure the private sector and elected officials on gun control, and an exceptional number of companies have cut direct and indirect ties with the firearms industry. Investors with responsible investment policies governing their exposure to firearms are rapidly being joined by peers, with pressure building on investors which have not taken a stance.
