
U.S. Board Study: Board Diversity Review

Gender still dominates the boardroom diversity conversation, but other dimensions of diversity, such as ethnicity, skills, background, and age are becoming more important to shareholders. While the U.S. lags most other developed markets in gender diversity, women are joining U.S. boards in record numbers – but not yet taking board leadership roles at the same rate. Board renewal is improving, especially among gender-diverse boards. Other measures of diversity, including ethnic diversity, are not advancing as quickly.
