ISS Webinars: Powers of Attorney Service Preview

On Feb. 27, 2012, ISS held two webinars previewing the new ISS Powers of Attorney (“PoA”) Service, which will go live on Mar. 2, led by Brian Russo, Head, Proxy Voting Product Management. Global investors need completed PoAs on file for votes to be accepted in certain markets such as Brazil, Egypt, Sweden and Turkey. The list of markets requiring PoAs can differ depending on custodian and the documentation necessary is determined by the custodian and local subcustodian relationship. Local market regulations affect the timing of PoA expiration and additional requirements such as notarization and consularization introduce further complexity. ISS’ PoA service is designed to reduce the considerable internal manpower, resources and time each year spent tracking and managing the PoA paperwork manually. It helps you reduce operational risks and increase compliance by avoiding PoAs being missed and votes rejected.
