PolicyEngine, ISS’ Next Generation Proxy Voting Solution

Rockville, MD; October 31, 2013 – Institutional Shareholder Services Inc. (ISS), a leading provider of corporate governance solutions to the global financial community, today announced the launch of PolicyEngine, giving investors unparalleled oversight of the creation and application of their custom voting policies.

The solution empowers investors with innovative tools to model their proxy voting policy and, critically, to analyze how potential changes in a policy may have impacted past voting decisions and meeting outcomes. PolicyEngine also allows for client defined region- and market-specific set up, including detailed reporting, back testing, and benchmarking add-ons.

“Institutional investors fundamentally require control over, and transparency into, the design and application of their voting policies to more effectively manage their workflow,” said Marija Kramer, ISS’ Global Head of Product Development. “PolicyEngine is designed precisely to meet those needs, allowing users to view and manage their policies while providing access to ISS’ comprehensive data sets and logic-based engine that undergird the solution.”

For institutional investors, proxy voting remains an important aspect of exercising their ownership and stewardship responsibilities. Against that backdrop, PolicyEngine is one of several major initiatives ISS is undertaking to meet the proxy voting needs of its clients and their beneficiaries through its industry leading ProxyExchange voting platform.

“ISS is committed to aiding institutional investors in effectively meeting their fiduciary responsibilities for transparency, reporting, and compliance, across all of our solutions,” said Stephen Harvey, Chief Revenue Officer at ISS. “PolicyEngine is directly aligned with this objective and offers clients robust tools.” Further enhancements to ProxyExchange, planned for early 2014, are a result of ISS client feedback and will focus on new capabilities and functionality.
