Rockville, MD (September 10, 2014) – Institutional Shareholder Services Inc. (ISS), a leading provider of proxy advisory and corporate governance solutions to financial market participants, today announced the hiring of Tom Stockdale as Head of Data Strategy and Application Development.

The appointment will help drive ISS’ technology development as it grows its stable of corporate governance and executive compensation data offerings for institutions and corporations, globally.

Stockdale, who will report to Retelny, was among the group of 25 that started RiskMetrics Group in 1998, leading development of the firm’s analytics testing framework.  Later, he led development for the Market Risk business, transitioning the company’s RiskManager product from a single-client desktop application to a multi-tenant, highly distributed, SaaS framework.  In 2004 he became the head of development across all businesses. From 2006 to 2010 he was the head of Research and Development, a group of 400 which included all of technology and quantitative research.

Stockdale, who will be based in ISS’ New York office, holds a BS in Computer Science from the University of Oklahoma.
